An important LARGE and ORIGINAL archive relating to 1133845 L.AC. later Pilot Officer, Francis Richard EARNSHAW and his World War Two service with the R.A.F. and R.C.A.F. briefly comprising an RAF Volunteer Reserve uniform jacket having two VR gilt lapel badges, eight buttons and an Observer's brevet 'half-wing' badge, with two separate RAFVR Officer's shoulder strap badges, two separate Sergeant's stripes, an embroidered RAF blazer badge, an embroidered RAF cloth place mat, an RAF King's Crown cap badge, an RAF Officer's dress cloth-covered peaked cap by Hamilton Uniform Cap Company Ltd of Hamilton, Canada with bullion King's Crown and gilt eagle badge, pinprick impressed W B to leather inner-band with inked inscription F.R.E. P/O, a RCAF forage cap inscribed inside to F.R. Earnshaw 1(2?)9763 with Officer's pattern gilt eagle and crown badge and two R.C.A.F. brass buttons, a brown with blue and orange piping forage cap with tag inside for Phila. Quartermaster Depot inspected by and 7 1/8. Also, an ORIGINAL WW2 Canadian RCAF Type B Leather Flying cap/helmet, without zipped earpieces, brown with chamois leather interior lining, this having a military ink stamp, RAF Pilot's Flying Log Book with entries for September and October 1941, RCAF Observer's and Air Gunner's Flying Log Book with entries for May to November 1942, Navigation and Air Observers Note Books, an 'active service' Navigation spread-sheet for May and June 1942 with recipient's comments on various bombing missions - including bombing docks at Wilhelmshaven 'bombs dropped, fires started on docks, 2 direct hits on enemy Cruiser resembling the GNEISENAU, rear gunner reports enemy fighter in pursuit' - service documents, letters, many other documents including an interesting one on The Theory of Bombing (!) photographs, postcards, maps and more - also to include three annotated photograph albums and an album of postcards, a 31cm x 57cm mounted and framed group photograph of R.A.F. Class '42G Darr Field from 1942 including the recipient - and much more, a superb, interesting and important archive collection.(Lot)
